I'm Bárbara Silva
Product & UX/UI Designer
Based in Portugal, I bring expertise in requirements assessment and human behaviour to UX/UI, uncovering real human needs and translating them into practical design strategies and solutions. I design clear, trustworthy experiences grounded in research, structure, and proactive thinking, anticipating friction before it happens and resolving it quickly when it does.
Background
From gerontology to UX/UI
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to two things: design and understanding people.
For the past seven years, I worked as a Technical Director in nursing homes and day centres, a field I truly love, where I gained hands on insight into human behaviour, people’s needs, and became a bit of a multitasking magician when it comes to solving problems. Over time, I realised I missed the creative side, so I specialised in UX/UI design and found my missing half.
My experience in gerontology trained me to listen deeply, observe carefully, focus on what truly matters, pay close attention to detail, and design with real human needs in mind. These are traits I carry with me and show throughout my portfolio, with case studies that highlight my method, decisions, and outcomes.
